	Beacon ESOL Courses Dealing with a large, multicultural population can be challenging for educators! Beacon provides programs for teachers, administrators, and guidance counselors. Programs: ESOL for Language Arts Teachers This program includes five courses with current research and new interactive features. Participants investigate the areas of methods, curriculum and materials, testing and evaluation, cross-cultural understanding, and applied linguistics. This program targets Florida's Category 1 teachers (language arts and certain reading teachers). Course content aligns with the Florida Teacher Standards for ESOL Endorsement 2010. Programs: ESOL for Content-Area Teachers Explore issues related to teaching English-language learners (ELLs) in the content areas. These courses provide various options for content-area teachers to gain an understanding of effective ESOL instruction. Florida's Category 2 teachers (math, science, socials studies, and computer literacy) may meet ESOL requirements by completing one of the 60-hour ESOL endorsement courses or ESOL: Issues and Strategies. (Check district requirements.) Florida's Category 3 teachers (electives) may meet their requirement by completing ESOL: An Overview. Programs: E-R-T (ESOL Endorsement) Complement your existing knowledge of reading instruction with ESOL methodology. Educators with Florida's K-12 Reading Endorsement or certification may qualify to add ESOL Endorsement using the E-R-T option. Course content aligns with the Florida Teacher Standards for ESOL Endorsement 2010. Programs: ESOL for Administrators Meet the challenge of educating a multicultural student population by understanding the background, legal requirements, and instructional strategies for English language learners (ELLs). Programs: ESOL for Guidance Counselors Explore the background and legal requirements for ESOL. Promote the development of English language learners (ELLs) and learn to provide post-secondary and career development guidance.
