Working in Module Summatives

A module's Summative Log provides a quick glance at the status of the summatives (see status explanations below). Learners must successfully pass each quiz with a score of at least 80 percent before a module is marked complete. To access the module summative, log in at https://www.beaconeducator.com/.

To access the Summative Log

  • Use the Table of Contents located at the top left of the page.
  • Select Summative Log at the bottom.

To access the summative via the Summative Log

  • Use the Table of Contents located at the top left of the page.
  • Select Summative Log at the bottom.
  • Select a summative.
  • The Purpose page provides a brief introduction of the summative content. Under Summative Components, you will see a link for a Quiz and information about the quiz's availability.
    Note: Summatives become available on the start date of the module.
  • Select the link to access the quiz once it is available.

To access the summative via the Table of Contents

  • Use the Table of Contents located at the top left of the course page.
  • Select a chapter to expand the chapter contents and locate one with a summative (typically at the end of a chapter).
  • Select the summative.
  • The Purpose page provides a brief introduction of the summative content. Under Summative Components, you will see the link for a Quiz and information about the quiz's availability.
    Note: Summatives become available on the start date of the module.
  • Select the link to access a quiz once it is available.  

Summative Type and Status:

  • Quiz: Modules contain at least one quiz. Learners demonstrate knowledge of the content by selecting the correct answer from the choices provided. Learners must successfully pass each quiz with a score of at least 80 percent. Learners can retake the quiz as needed.
  • Available in (#) hours/minutes: A quiz will be available when the time shown has elapsed. Use this time to read the module. 
  • Available Now: Learner may take the quiz immediately.
  • Started: Learner started but did not complete the quiz.
  • Last Attempt Date: Learner last attempted the quiz on this date.
  • Retake in (#) minutes: The quiz will be available to retake when the time shown has elapsed. Use this time to review the module.
  • Retake Now: Learner may retake the quiz immediately.
  • Passed: Learner passed the quiz.
