Module Expectations

Beacon provides two formats for online learning: courses and modules. Courses are facilitated by trained content-area specialists and include multiple summative assessments that must be approved by the course facilitator. Modules are non-facilitated and include a single exit exam. This article addresses module expectations.

Module Expectations

  • Read course content, complete Check Your Understanding activities, view video clips, and visit external web links and other resources in each chapter prior to attempting the Exit Exam.
  • Note: The Exit Exam is not available until the number of hours in the module has elapsed from the time the module is first opened.
    • Example 1: If registering at 1 p.m. for a 6-hour module, the exam will be available at 7 p.m.
    • Example 2: If registering at midnight for a 20-hour module, the exam will be available at 8 p.m. the next day.
    • The exam cannot be accessed prior to the start date.
  • Learners must score 80 percent or better on the exit exam. Learners can retake the exit exam as needed to attain a passing score. A time delay allows the learner to review content prior to taking the exit exam again.
  • Automatic withdrawal occurs after the end date of the module if the exam has not been successfully completed.
