Description

Recognize the need for complex text in preparing students to be college and career ready. Explore the components of text complexity used to identify appropriate texts for readers. Identify strategies for using complex texts in the classroom.

  • Define and provide examples of the quantitative measures of text complexity.
  • Define and provide examples of the qualitative measures of text complexity.
  • Identify various methods of matching readers to appropriate texts.
  • Explore ideas for using complex texts in the classroom.

Documentation Methods

Participants must document their learning by completing the following summative.

1 Multiple Choice Exam - Learner demonstrates knowledge of content by selecting the correct answer from the choices provided.

The summative must meet 80% of the established criteria.
