Carmen S. Concepcion

Dr. Carmen S. Concepción is the Director of Staff Development for Florida Virtual School. In this role, Dr. Concepción oversees the successful development, implementation, execution, and continuous improvement of all FLVS staff professional development.
Prior to joining FLVS, Dr. Concepción led professional development programs and initiatives at Miami-Dade County Public Schools. As a former Florida Literacy and Reading Excellence (FLaRE) Area Coordinator, she supported the Florida Department of Education initiatives by disseminating information about literacy instruction and assessment throughout the state. Dr. Concepción is a National Board Certified Teacher. She served as a Learning Forward Florida Board Director-at-Large and is a graduate of the Learning Forward Academy Class of 2017. Dr. Concepción is an educational advocate of professional learning who believes that investing in professional growth opportunities and building positive workplace cultures leads to greater efficiency and better outcomes.
Dr. Carmen S. Concepción earned a Doctor of Education from the College of William and Mary in the area of Educational Policy, Planning and Leadership. She was awarded a Specialist Degree in Reading from the University of Miami, a Master's Degree from Nova Southeastern University in TESOL, and a Bachelor's Degree in Social Studies Education from Florida International University.
