Description

Learn to maintain academic focus in the absence of the regular classroom teacher. Develop knowledge of instructional strategies and techniques to facilitate student engagement and achievement.

An effective educator knows:

  • The importance of making a reasonable effort to follow the teacher’s lesson plans. (Pre-Professional Accomplished Practices 7.3, 7.7, 9.12, 9.14)
  • How to provide effective directions for instructional activities and routines. (Pre-Professional Accomplished Practice 9.13, 10.9)
  • When and how to use instructional strategies with students. (Pre-Professional Accomplished Practice 2.7, 4.3, 7.5, 8.1, 10.5, 10.10)
  • That students need assistance and feedback while practicing a skill. (Pre-Professional Accomplished Practice 2.9,2 9.9)

  • Provide opportunities for students to learn from each other. 2.7
  • Provide opportunities for students to receive constructive feedback on individual work and behavior. 2.9

Documentation Methods

Participants must document their learning by completing the following summatives.

1 Multiple Choice Quiz - Learner demonstrates knowledge of content by selecting the correct answer from the choices provided.
2 Reflections - Learner synthesizes previous knowledge and course content in order to develop a narrative response.

The summatives must meet 80% of the established criteria.
