Courses
Learners enrolled in Beacon Educator courses receive immediate access to research-based content and individualized feedback by facilitators with content-area knowledge. Each course provides five to 60 hours of inservice credit and are available at your convenience.
Modules
Learners enrolled in Beacon Educator modules receive immediate access to research-based content assessed through multiple-choice quizzes. Modules provide one to forty hours of inservice credit and are available at one’s convenience.
Content Areas

ESOL

Educators learn concepts and strategies to enhance the education of multicultural populations!
Investigate the core areas of ESOL instruction: methods of teaching, curriculum and materials, testing and evaluation, cross-cultural communications, and applied linguistics. This program provides content that is appropriate for a national audience. In Florida, it targets teachers of language arts and reading and may lead to endorsement. Beacon also provides programs for teachers, administrators, and guidance counselors. Gifted

Explore five key areas of gifted education: nature and needs, special populations, curriculum and instructional strategies, creativity, and guidance and counseling. All courses include both instructional components and application activities that align with the objectives for the Florida K-12 Gifted Endorsement. Courses are listed in the suggested order for completion. Check with your district staff development office for credit eligibility toward Gifted Endorsement.

Reading

Explore six core areas of reading: oral language, phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, comprehension, and vocabulary. Included in each of the interactive courses in this series are both instructional components and application activities. The courses are designed to be completed sequentially, culminating in the practicum (Reading 5). Content aligns to the indicators for Florida's K-12 Reading Endorsement.

Professional Learning Certification
