Description

Learn about teachers' obligation to maintain confidentiality of student information as specified in the Principles of Professional Conduct for the Education Profession in Florida (Florida Code of Ethics).

Learning Objectives

  • Identify the meaning of FERPA and how it relates to confidentiality in the school system.
  • Recognize the types of information found in student’s educational record.
  • Understand safety and health emergency exceptions under FERPA.
  • Demonstrate awareness of FERPA guidelines and penalties for employees of an educational institution.
  • Recognize best practices for maintaining confidentiality of student information.

Documentation Methods

Participants must document their learning by completing the following summative.

1 Multiple Choice Quiz - Learner demonstrates knowledge of content by selecting the correct answer from the choices provided.

The summative must meet 80% of the established criteria.
