Instructional Practices: Student Engagement

Description

Student engagement is a necessary component of academic success and classroom management. This module provides teachers with tools to increase and maintain student engagement.

Learning Objectives

By the completion of this course participants will

  • define student engagement, its benefits, and the levels that make it up,
  • recognize that the challenges to implementing student engagement can be overcome,
  • define classroom strategies that promote student engagement,
  • determine which instructional strategies and classroom layouts are appropriate for a lesson to encourage student engagement,
  • determine that student engagement hinges on students having a variety of classroom experiences, and
  • recognize the importance of mindful lesson planning in encouraging student engagement and positive student outcomes.

Documentation Methods

Participants must document their learning by completing the following summative.

1 Multiple Choice Exam - Learner demonstrates knowledge of content by selecting the correct answer from the choices provided.

The summative must meet 80% of the established criteria.
