Description
This course provides an overview of ethics in government, public records, and public meetings. It meets Florida’s annual training requirement for elected officials and certain other employees. This course addresses FELS Standard 1 and partially meets Florida’s requirement for annual training in ethics and related topics.
Learning Objectives
- Demonstrate knowledge of key points in the history of ethics in government in Florida.
- Demonstrate knowledge of the requirements for financial disclosures as outlined in Article II, Section 8 of the Florida Constitution, also known as the Sunshine Amendment.
- Demonstrate knowledge of Part II, Chapter 112 of Florida Statutes, also known as the Code of Ethics.
- Demonstrate knowledge of Chapter 119 of Florida Statutes: public records.
- Demonstrate knowledge of Chapter 286 of Florida Statutes: public meetings.
Documentation Methods
Participants must document their learning by completing the following summatives.
1 Multiple Choice Exam - Learner demonstrates knowledge of content by selecting
the correct answer from the choices provided.
2 Reflections - Learner synthesizes previous knowledge and course content in
order to develop a narrative response.
The summatives must meet 80% of the established criteria.
