Description
Explore the positive impact teachers can have on students following large-scale traumatic events. Learn coping strategies and interactive classroom activities to provide support to students facing the consequences of trauma both inside and outside of the classroom environment.
Learning Objectives
- Understand the impact of various types of large-scale community-wide trauma on students, teachers, the school, and the community.
- Identify ways that educators can help traumatized children feel safe physically, socially, emotionally, and academically.
- Understand the importance of personal connections during the recovery process.
- Identify methods for managing emotional and behavioral impulses following trauma.
- Understand methods to help maintain services, counseling, or other supports as needed following a traumatic event.

Participants must document their learning by completing the following summative.
1 Multiple Choice Exam - Learner demonstrates knowledge of content by selecting
the correct answer from the choices provided.
The summative must meet 80% of the established criteria.
